2 Timothy 4:1-5 (NIV)__________________________________________________________
1 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: 2 Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage - with great patience and careful instruction. 3 For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. 5 But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.
Father ever since I got to know You, there's been so many "discoveries" of new Gnostic gospels that wants to undermine Your great power and sovereignty. Yet, amidst all these doubts, there's always a special tug in my heart whenever my ears get exposed to such messages, trying to warn me that none of them, absolutely none, are plausible.
Lord, I know that heartfelt tug comes from the Holy Spirit. Maybe I'm still a young adult and Christian at the moment, whenever I hear about such misleading “discoveries”, I will respond in defensive anger. I strongly feel that they're insulting You, especially when these messages come from close friends who choose to challenge You.
However, my quick temper might actually push them further away from You than in winning favour for You Lord. Father I pray that in view of all these Gnosticism, I can have a cool head and react calmly, pointing out to people around me of Your greatness and mercifulness. Guide me to be a better servant for You Father.
